Amil Samuel "Johnny" Osadchy,
77, rural Max and longtime Rushville Township rancher and farmer died on
Thursday, December 27th, 2007, in his home from heart complications.
Amil was born on October 1, 1930 on the family farm in Rushville Township of Ward County, north of Max, ND to Nazar and Mary (Poul) Osadchy. He was reared on the family farm, attended rural schools and graduated from Max High School in 1948. After his schooling, he continued to help out at the family farm and assumed responsibility for the daily operation of farm and ranch after his mother's death in 1980. He raised horses, small grains, and beef cattle. His faithful dogs often rode with him in the tractor or his pickup.
Amil was one of the founding members of the Max Rodeo Association and a past president of that association. In addition he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Max and enjoyed singing, reading, and outdoor activities, especially working with his cattle and horses. He had a wry sense of humor and enjoyed swapping "cowboy" stories.
Amil was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Anneale Schwalbe, Lucille Kalamaha, and Margaret Baugh, and brothers: Joseph, Vincent, Andrew, and Arnold.
Surviving family includes one brother: Paul Osadchy, rural Max, ND, and four sisters: Florence Melchior of San Bernardino, California, Frances Scroggs of Colton, California, Barbara Osadchy and Audrey Rydberg both of Minot, ND, two sisters-in-law: Donna (Bauer) Osadchy and Katherine (Spitanik) Osadchy both of Max, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nephews and great-great nieces.
Mass of Christian Burial:
Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Max.
Vigil Prayer Service:
Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel Minot.
Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery Max.
Visitation:
Tuesday from noon until 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials:
are preferred to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Cemetery or the Max Rodeo Association.
