Alvina Marie Loveland, 76, Minot, died on Thursday, February 14, 2013 in a rural Minot adult foster care home.
Alvina was born on July 5, 1936 in Minot to Joseph and Emilia (Thomas) Bertsch. She was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from St. Leo's High School in 1954. During and after her high school years, she was a musician in her father's band, the Bertsch Band, and she played the piano, organ and accordion.
Alvina married Donald Loveland on October 28, 1961 in Minot, and following their marriage they made their home in Minot. Alvina was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. She pursued her love of music by providing piano entertainment at the Riverside Convention Center, Knights of Columbus Clubroom and various other local establishments. She also played piano for private parties and numerous conventions. Most recently, she played piano at Primo Restaurant in the Grand International Inn for 23 years. Donald died on December 1, 2007. Alvina had resided at the Sue Byre Adult Foster Care Home for the past 3.5 years where she was blessed to have received the best possible care.
Alvina was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church Minot, Elk's Lodge and Knights of Columbus. She especially enjoyed traveling, music and spending time with her family.
Alvina's loving family includes her children: Cary (Becky) Loveland of Lompoc CA, Sheryl Loveland of Minot, Shelley (Rick) Brown of Oklahoma City OK, and Holly (Randy) Bartsch of Minot; grandchildren: Nadine and Courtney Loveland and Derek and Megan Bartsch; sister, Eva Smathers, Minot; sister-in-law: Vetta Loveland of Fargo and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alvina was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; sisters: Leona Damm-Burns, Theresa Iverson, Viola Kerzman Krukenberg and Adeline Kerzman and brothers-in-law: Harold (Ruth) Loveland and Ed Loveland.
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Leo's Catholic Church- Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Monday at 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Bishop Ryan High School Foundation.
