Alvina Berg, 102, Douglas, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020 surrounded by her loving family in a Turtle Lake Assisted Living Center.
Alvina was born June 5, 1917 on the family farm south of Minot, the daughter of Ole and Mina (Kleven) Fjeld. She was raised on the farm in the South Prairie area and educated at country schools in that area. She assisted with the operation of the family farm in Freedom Township.
Alvina was united in marriage to Sven Berg on July 10, 1937 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. They made their home on a farm in Hilton Township of Ward County, North Dakota, where along with being blessed with two children, they raised small grains and cattle and operated a dairy farm. Sven died in 1975. Alvina continued to live on the farm until she turned 100 years young. After that time, she lived with her daughter, Judy, until recently entering a Turtle Lake Assisted Living Center.
Alvina was a former member of Spring Lake Lutheran Church, rural Douglas and she was a member of Saron Lutheran Church, rural Minot. She enjoyed baking, gardening, reading and traveling.
Her loving family includes: children, Paul (Betty) Berg, Douglas, ND; Judy (Larry) Rice, Turtle Lake, ND; 6 grandchildren to include: Brian Berg, Darla (Dave) Iverson, Duane Berg, Bryce (Wendy) Berg, Randy (Rachel) Rice, Robyn (Ryan) Goven; 13 great grandchildren to include: Wyatt Strilcov, Justin Berg, Madilyn Berg, Katelyn Berg, Carly (Jerod) Fleming, LaShae Berg, Makayla Berg, Ginger Goven, Monica Goven, Sadie Goven, Reggie Rice, Ray Rice & Richard Rice; one great-great grandchild: Jace Fleming.
Alvina was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 38 years, Sven; brothers, Carl, Martin, Alvin, Olaf, John and Elmer Fjeld.
Celebration of Life service: Due to the Covid restrictions, there will be a Private Family service on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Saron Lutheran Church, Rural Minot. Those wishing to view a livestream of the service can do so by accessing https://www.mtmsales.net/thomas
Interment: Spring Lake Cemetery, Rural Douglas, ND.
Public Visitation : Monday, June 1 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials : preferred to Saron Lutheran Church or the Turtle Lake Nursing Care Facility.
