Obituary

Alvin Rueben Lang, 83, Minot died on Thursday, December 10, 2015 in a Minot hospital.

Alvin was born on May 16, 1932 on a farm near Zap, ND to Helmuth and Otillia (Mittelstad) Lang. He was reared on the family farm and attended a rural school. He continued his education at Hanson Trade School in Fargo where he received specialized training in diesel mechanics.

Alvin married Marian Curtis on January 29, 1954 in Fargo. They made their home in Fargo until 1959 when they moved to Minot where Alvin was employed at Midland Diesel for twenty years, Schriock Construction as the Crusher Superintendant for twenty years, Gravel Products for eleven years and at Farden Construction as a truck-driver for the past eleven years. Marian died on February 4, 2000. Alvin had continued to reside in Minot.

Alvin was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and bingo, pinochle and gambling at the Riverside Resort in Laughlin, NV and watching western movies on television in more recent times. Also, he was a "regular" at the Blind Duck.

Alvin's loving family includes his special friend: Pam Talbott of Minot; children: Michael Lang of Warroad MN, Steven Lang, David Lang, Sandra Jundt and Scott Lang all of Minot and Susan Schell of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren: Ashley (John) Stocker, Cody (Brittany) Lang, Colton Lang, Caitlin Lang, Eric (Valerie) Lang, Christina Lang (Mustafa Abdelhares), Natalie Lang, Jessica Schell and Kaylie Schell; great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Zachary, Samuel, Haris, Aundi, Zella and Otillia; brother: Ardell (Marie) Lang of Mandan and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter: Brooke Lang and daughter-in-law: Pam Lang.

Celebration of the Life of Alvin Lang: Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Room 201 of the Minot Municipal Auditorium.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Fellowship and lunch will follow the graveside service at 12:30 p.m. at the Blind Duck.
Visitation: Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
