Alvin R. Grosz, 80, Minot, died Thursday, April 4, 2019 in a Minot nursing home.

Alvin was born July 20, 1938 near Kief, ND in Highland Township of Sheridan County to Christ and Sophia (Zeigler) Grosz.  He attended rural schools near Kief and spent his youth assisting his family with the operation of the family farm.

Alvin enlisted into the US Army on March 1, 1957.  He served honorably and was discharged from active duty on March 17, 1965.  He returned to North Dakota.

Alvin was united in marriage to Helen Clark on February 25, 1966 in Minot.  They would both call Minot home for the rest of their lives and were blessed to raise five children.  Alvin worked in the recycling industry during his working years for Porter Brothers.  He retired in 1997.  Helen passed away on June 3, 2013.

He loved the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.

Alvin is survived by 5 children, Marc (Cindy) Jarmin, Kindred, ND, Mary O'Clair, Rapid City, SD, Chris (Jackie) Grosz, Candyce Grosz and Melanie (Paul Lock) Grosz, all of Minot, ND; grandchildren, Josh, Jessie, Jared, Justine, Jaime, Cindy, Holly, Jacob, Brittney, Nathan and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Eden and Ellise; brother, Robert 'Bobby' (Marilyn) Grosz, both of Minot along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 47 years, Helen, sisters, Alvina Hanson, Agnes Vancamp, Ella Rau and Annie Gerlie, an infant brother, Rudolph and brothers, Emil, Eddy and Arthur Grosz.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot with a fellowship to follow at the VFW Club, Minot.
Interment:  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the National Kidney Foundation.
