Alpha Harriet Sevig, 97, Minot, formerly of Norwich, died Friday, March 23, 2018 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Alpha was born July 25, 1920 on the family farm near Norwich, North Dakota, the youngest of six children to Halvor and Anna (Nelson) Finneseth. She was raised on the family farm and educated at Norwich Schools and graduated in 1938. She continued her education at Trinity School of Nursing where she graduated with a registered nursing degree in 1941.

Alpha was employed as a private duty nurse and at the Belcourt Hospital before she was united in marriage to Arthur Sevig on May 15, 1946 in Minot. They made their home in Minot throughout the years. In addition to raising their five children, she was employed as an RN at Trinity Hospital in the nursery for 17 years. Arthur died April 2, 2011.

Alpha was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. She was active with the ladies aid group, quilting group and participated in Bible studies. She was a member of the Sons of Norway and served with her husband with the Meals on Wheels program and Lifelines at Trinity Hospital. Throughout the years she enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, cooking and loved to play a game of Rook.

Her loving family includes: children, Donna Desjardins, Minot, Carol Hitchcock, Hudson, WI, Tim (Linda) Sevig, Boise, ID, Judy (Randy) Hanson, Minot & Lana (Mark) Gilberts, Monticello, MN; 16 grandchildren: Loren (Desiree) Desjardins, Chad (Donna) Desjardins, Bonnie (Anthony) Holmes, Erika (Steve) Ferraro, Bryan Hitchcock, Michael (Dawn) Sevig, Michelle (Eli) Robinson, Wendy Sevig, Holly (Jason) Dyrud, Alissa (Tony) Nelson, Erin (James) Lyke, Rebecca (Luke) Steen, Bjrn (Alissa) Hanson, Kinsey Hanson, Paula (Tony) Sobota, and Joshua Gilberts (Sally Johnson); 27 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and her cousin, Rosella Knoepfle.

Alpha was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, Arthur; son in law, Jeff Hitchcock; and her five siblings, Lawrence Finneseth, Iva Heskin, Arvith Finneseth, Hiram Finneseth and Ada Finneseth.

Celebration of Life service : Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Public Prayer Service: 6:45 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment : Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, March 30th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church or an organization of the donor's choice.
