Alois "Al" Ness, 88, Minot, died Saturday, November 3, 2018 in a Minot Hospital.

Al was born February 14, 1930 at Minot, North Dakota, the son of Fred and Grace Ness.  He was raised and educated at Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1948.

Al was united in marriage to E. Delores "Dode" Rearick on December 18, 1948 in Minot.    They made their home in Minot, where Al received specialized Electrical training at Holmes Electric.  Throughout the years, he was employed with Holmes Electric and later with Northwestern Electric.   Together they raised two children, Connie and Richard.

After retiring, Al and Dode enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, AZ.  He enjoyed snowmobiling,   playing cards and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Dode died February 10, 2003.

His loving family includes , daughter, Connie (Erick) Thompson, Granville, ND, son, Richard (Kathy) Ness, Fargo, ND; special friend and companion Marianne Ryan, 6 grandchildren: Jackie Strand, Wanda (Dale) Bachmeier, Heidi (Roger) Tank, Teresa (Randy)  Knutson, Myka Ness and Katie Ness; 17 great grandchildren: Sheldon Thompson, Taylor & Shailah Strand; Wyatt, Ethan, Lane & Grace Bachmeier; Jessica & Joshua Tank, Cole Genetzky; Lacie, Levi, Brandon, Brooke, Brock & Brielle Knutson and Triston Duelman ; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 55 years, Delores, along with his brother, Orville Ness and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ness.

Funeral service : Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation : Thursday, November 8 ^th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
