Alma Eleanor Lierbo , 94, Minot, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, in a Minot nursing home.

Alma was born on December 13, 1911, East Fork Township of Williams County near Spring Brook, ND, to Knut and Sophie (Herreid) Knutson. She graduated Epping High School in 1929 and earned a standard teaching certificate from Minot State Teachers College. As a young adult she taught seven years at the East Fork Township consolidated school.

Alma married Alvin Lierbo on June 14, 1937. They made their home in Spring Brook, Alamo, Churchs Ferry, Brocket, Balfour and Upham where Alvin was employed as Superintendent or Principal at the schools there. The family moved to Minot in 1960 where Alvin was a teacher at Minot State University and Minot High School and Alma taught piano and assisted in school music programs and spring music festivals. After her husband's death in 1968, she worked for eight years as a receptionist at Trinity Homes and several years as an office volunteer following her retirement.

Alma was a member of First Lutheran Church, Minot and its church circle, quilters group, library board, and served as a pianist for the women's organization for twenty years. She was also a member of Minot Women's Club and Trinity Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Jean (Norris) Olson of Grand Forks, ND, Ardelle (Tom) Blattman of Roseville, CA; three grandchildren, Marc (Gretchen) Olson of Chicago, IL, Tara (Tim) Olson-Cejka of Rockford, IL and Kimberly Blattman of Sacramento, CA; six great-grandchildren, Elise, Isabelle and Cade Olson, Logan, Hunter and Reagan Cejka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson, Capt. Jeffry Olson who was killed in an aircraft accident during the Gulf War.

Funeral Service: Monday, October 9, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot.
Interment : Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation : Sunday from noon - 5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
