Obituary

Alma Rose Kirchofner, 90, Minot, formerly of Jamestown, died Sunday, May 14, 2017 in a Minot hospital.

Alma was born on February 4, 1927 to John and Mary (Rieger) Heilman in Rugby, ND. She was raised and educated in Rugby, graduating from Rugby High School in 1945.

Alma was united in marriage to Walter Kirchofner on April 26, 1949. In April of 1956, the family moved to Jamestown, ND. She was employed by the Jamestown Sun as an advertising agent for numerous years.

Walter died on July 23, 2008. Alma moved to Minot in 2011 to be near her family.

Alma was a member of St. James Basillica Church in Jamestown and the Jamestown American Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed painting and drawing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Alma is survived by her son: Wayne (Sumalee) Kirchofner, Minot; grandchildren: Annie Kirchofner, Minot and Mary (Todd) Edin, Minot; great-grandchildren: Gavyn Yoder and Liam Edin; twin sister, Irene Olson, East Grand Forks, MN; brother, Albert Heilman, San Diego, CA; sisters-in-law: Lorna Heilman, Betty Kraft and Bernice Kirchofner and brother-in-law: Edward Kirchofner.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brothers: Ferdinand (Freddie) and Nicholas Heilman.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation: Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
