Obituary

Alma Alice Jorgenson , 90, Minot, and formerly of Kenmare and Towner, died Tuesday, March 11, 2208 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Alma was born October 25, 1917 at Rugby, North Dakota, the daughter of Albert and Kari Roalkvam. She was raised on the family farm near Upham, and educated at Glenburn. After graduating from Glenburn High School, she attended Minot State College and received her Standard Teaching Certificate. While teaching at schools in Glenburn and Granville, her sister Lillian lived with her and attended high school. She later taught at Belfield and Page, North Dakota.

Alma was united in marriage to Leonard M. Jorgenson on November 29, 1947 at First Lutheran Church, Minot. They made their home in Towner for a number of years, before moving to Kenmare in 1963, when the family purchased the State Bank & Trust of Kenmare. In addition to assisting Leonard with the operation of the bank, she was also a substitute teacher in Kenmare schools and previously the Towner schools. Alma was an officer and served on the board of directors for the State Bank & Trust of Kenmare, as well as a director for The Citizens State Bank at Mohall, and First National Bank & Trust of Williston.

Alma was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare and participated in church circle and ladies aid. Alma and Leonard spent 28 winters in Sun City, Arizona. They also had maintained a summer cabin at Lake Metigoshe since 1965. She was an avid golfer and life member of the Kenmare Country Club and life member of Lake County Historical Society. She attended many State Sand Green Golf Tournaments and had won numerous awards throughout the years. She was active as a den mother for both Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts, served on the PTA in Towner, was active with coffee groups in Kenmare and Towner and was well-known for her lefse-making abilities. Spending time with her family and attending family gatherings were very important to Alma.

Her loving family includes : Husband of 60 years, Leonard; Children: James (Cynthia) Jorgenson, Kenmare, Karen (Phil) Neidhardt, Knoxville, TN; grandchildren: Ann & Jane Neidhardt; stepgrandsons: Ted Neidhardt, Christopher & Eric Piela; four stepgreat-grandchildren; twin brother: Elmer Roalkvam, Minot.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Leonard and sisters: Ruth Roalkvam and Lillian Eidsness.

The family requests that memorials be sent to the Nazareth Lutheran Church Building Fund-PO Box 205-Kenmare, ND 58746.

Memorial Service : Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.
Interment;
North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND later in the spring.
