Allen H. Skar, 73, Minot, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in a Minot Hospital.
Allen was born December 22, 1936 at Crosby, North Dakota, the son of Einar and Angeline (Manson) Skar. He was raised and educated at Crosby and entered into active duty service with the U.S. Air Force in 1954. He was honorably discharged in 1957 and returned to Minot.
Throughout the years he was employed doing work at the Garrison Dam in the powerhouse, and with Boeing in the area Seattle, Washington for several years as an electrician. Allen was once married to Marlene Larson. From this union five children were born. He returned to Minot, where he was employed by the local Electrical Workers Union for more than 15 years until he received a medical disability due to a work injury.
Allen was a member of the Lutheran faith and the local Electrical Workers Union #714. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the Lostwood Refuge.
His family includes : children, Debra Laskody, and David Skar, both of North Bend, WA, Douglas Skar, and Diane Williams, both of Anchorage, AK, Dale Skar, North Bend, WA; Ten grandchildren & Two great-grandchildren; brother, Clayton Skar, Minot; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald & Elmer, sisters Elaine & Dorothy.
