Alice Warner, 94, Minot, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 surrounded by her family at her residence at the View in Minot.

Alice was born April 21, 1917 on the family farm in Stillwater Township, Bowman County, North Dakota. Her parents James and Ida (Popp) Joyce were children of immigrants and homesteaded in Bowman County. Alice grew up in a homesteader's shack. She attended country school and graduated from Buffalo Springs High School in 1935. She grew up active in 4-H and the community. Alice attended Jamestown College for one year in 1936 but left college due the untimely death of her parents and the loss of the family farm within the same year. The family moved to Jamestown in the fall of 1936. Alice and her brother Richard raised her younger brother and Alice helped support herself and the family by working for the ND Farmers Union for several years.

Alice married Murry Warner June 28, 1941. Murry entered the United States Army Air Corps in 1942 and Alice moved to Minot where she continued to care for her brothers. After the war Alice and Murry went into the construction business in Minot and in1955 they organized Warner Construction Company. Alice took an active part managing the successful business while raising four children. After Murry's death on May 20, 1977, Alice continued her role in the business for a number of years before retiring and selling the business.

Alice loved the community she lived in and actively participated in a variety of religious, service, cultural, fraternal, and business organizations. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Alice served on a number of boards and committees including the Board of Trustees and Ruling Elders. She was a charter member of the Minot Toastmistresses, the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, and the Northwestern North Dakota Girl Scout Foundation. As a mother, Alice was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader. She also served on the boards of the YWCA, the Baukol-Noonan Coal Company, and she was active in Chapter AL of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Alice will be missed by her family; Son: Mark (Lena) Warner, Wheeler, WI; Daughters: Joyce (Joe) Alme, Minot, ND; Jill (Doug) Fuller, Watertown, SD; Ann (Skip) Krause, Minot, ND. Grandchildren: Jenny Warner, William (Linda) Warner, Jim (Jackie) Alme, Jana (Andy) Sweet, Joanne Alme (David Lunt), Max Fuller, Jase Fuller, Allison (Mike) Barrett. Great Grandchildren: Lila Alme, Romeo and Liam Sweet, Aria and Korgen Lunt.

Alice is preceded in death by: husband, Murry, Parents: James and Ida Joyce; Brothers: Richard, Robert, Lawrence, Donald, James.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at the Thomas Family Funeral Home
