Alice M. Vannett, 94, Minot, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Alice was born June 25, 1915 on the family farm in Torning Township of Ward County, North Dakota, the daughter of Peter O. and Ragna (Hansen) Berget. She was raised on the family farm and educated at country schools in that area.

Alice was united in marriage to Marion Vannett on February 3, 1934. They made their home on a farm in the South Prairie area. They moved to Minot in 1946, where along with raising their children, she was employed at the City Bakery, Minot Steam Laundry, Pop's Cleaners and Trinity Hospital in the laundry department. Marion died July 27, 1969.

Alice attended the Southside Church of the Nazarene, where she participated in several Christmas programs. She enjoyed making afghans and ceramics, along with spending time in her flower gardens. Her favorite place to eat was at Homesteader's Restaurant, where there was always a favorite window booth available. Some of her most special times were spent having tea parties with her granddaughters.

Her loving family includes: children, Elaine Hogan, Perrysburg, OH; Weslie (Pat) Vannett, Cheyenne, WY, Carol (LeRoy) Lindekugel, Minot, Janice Cooper, Minot, brother; Percy (Carol) Berget, Bothell, WA; grandchildren: Rick (Carolyn) Hogan, Jim (Amy) Hogan, Lisa Brondes, Terri (Marlowe) Johnson, DeeAnn (Art) Hansen, Kathy (Jeff) Smith, Kara Lynn (Walter) Peters, Kimberly (John) Haugen, Kandis (Tim) Gillmore, Kenny (Cari) Flory, Kory (Tara) Flory, Kirk (Linda) Flory, Mike (Kim) Vannett, Danny (Jo) Vannett, Greg (Shelley) Vannett, Deborah (Allan) Hemstad, Nick, Lenny & Robin Vannett; Forty- great grandchildren, Ten great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Elvin, Rueben, twins, Clifford & Clarence & Lloyd Berget, sisters, Millie Perlichek, Rose Berget and Selma Berget, son, Laverne, granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Earl and her husband, Larry Earl, grandsons, Jeffrey Vannett, David Christoff, twin grandsons, Todd & Troy Vannett, sons in law: Alan Cooper & Kenneth Flory.

Funeral service : Monday, October 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Southside Church of the Nazarene, Minot.
Interment : Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday from Noon until 5:00p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Southside Church of the Nazarene or the Senior Citizens Center, both Minot.
