Alice Mildred Herman, 99, Minot, formerly of the Upham area, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Alice was born March 6, 1909 at Russell, North Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Wantz) Freit. She was united in marriage to Joe Hannesson on June 10, 1929 at Towner. They made their home on a farm in the Upham-Bantry area. Joe died in 1955.

Alice was then united in marriage to Clarence Herman in 1959. They made their home on a farm in the Upham area. They moved to Claremont, California after retiring from farming in 1963. They returned to Minot in 1968 and Clarence died in 1972. Alice had lived in Minot with her son, Victor, these past number of years and had entered Trinity Homes in 2003.

Alice enjoyed crocheting and tending to her flowers.

Her loving family includes : Children: Victor Hannesson, Minot; Anna Hartel, Clarkston, WA; Juanita (Mike) Mobley, Minot; Florence (Harvey) Herslip, Minot; Josephine (Leslie) Pfau, Upham; Mary Anderson, Sacramento, CA; Janice(Rick) Higgins, LuVerne, CA; Thirteen Grandchildren; Twenty-four Great-Grandchildren; Four Great-Great- Grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, along with seven brothers and one sister.

Graveside Service: will take place at the Bantry Cemetery, Bantry, ND later in the spring of 2009.
Visitation : At the request of the family, there will be no reviewal, however friends may sign a memorial register book and leave cards on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, from Noon - 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
