Alice V. Iverslie, 102, Minot, died Monday, February 16, 2009 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Alice was born December 23, 1906 at Hawick, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Mathilda (Gregerson) Emerson. She was raised and educated on a farm near Paynesville, MN. As a young woman, she lived at Grand Rapids, MN, where she worked at a furniture manufacturing industry. She then moved to Minot in 1926, where she worked in retail sales and as a photo finisher.
Alice was united in marriage to Irwin Iverslie on January 19, 1934 in Minot.
They made their home in Minot throughout the years, where she was known for her baked goods, particularly bread and lefse, which she made in great quantity and sold from her home. After Irwin retired, they volunteered to deliver meals for the "Meals on Wheels" program for several years. As a young woman, she was very active in the Sons of Norway organization, where she was a member of the drill team for many years.
Irwin died January 13, 1996. Alice continued to make her home in Minot and had moved into Trinity Nursing Home in 2005.
Alice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was actively involved in many aspects of the Church, including the Martha Circle group. She was also a member of Trinity Auxiliary, where she logged over 26,000 hours as a volunteer. She enjoyed quilting, baking and crocheting.
Her loving family includes: son, Paul (Margo) Iverslie, Minot; granddaughter, Andrea (Jim) Folkner; great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Antony James Folkner; several nieces, nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Inga Larson, Edna Mock, Lillie Rostad, brothers, Reuben, Olaf, Edwin, Raymond, George and Jim Emerson.
Funeral service:
Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment:
Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot;
Visitation:
Wednesday from 2:00-7:00 pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
