Alice Mae Berg, 92, Minot, died on Thursday, February 14, 2013 in a Minot hospital.
Alice was born on May 13, 1920 in Gorham (near Grassy Butte), ND to Martin and Mary (Gudnick) Babnick. At the age of four, she and her family moved to rural Wilton, ND and attended rural schools in that area.
Alice married Samuel "Harry" Berg on September 16, 1941 in Junction City, Kansas where Harry was stationed with the U.S. Army. Following World War II they made their home in Bismarck for a short time prior to moving to Minot. She was a full- time wife, mother and homemaker until beginning employment in the lunchroom at Ramstad Junior High School in 1966. She was known as the "Peanut Butter Lady" there. She retired in 1984. Harry died on August 20, 2005. Most recently, she had resided at Brentmoor.
Alice was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church - Minot and the North Dakota Retired Teachers Association. She especially enjoyed collecting recipes, growing and caring for her geraniums, visiting by telephone with her friends and writing cards and letters. She enjoyed writing poetry and has had her work published in several books.
Alice's loving family includes her children: Larrel (Carol) Berg, Minot, Marty Berg, Grand Forks, and Mark (Sunny) Berg, Bismarck; grandchildren: Jackie (David) Flikkema Steven Berg and Morgan Berg; great grandchildren: Carter and Kelby Berg and Dylon and Harley Flikkema and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Ann (Dan) Gill, Pearl (John) Gill, Josephine (Walter) Aune, Rose (Steve) Larson and Ada (Emanuel) Tjenstrom and brother: Paul (Phyllis) Babnick.
Celebration of the Life of Alice Berg: Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Bread of Life Lutheran Church Minot located at 1415 17th Ave. S.W. due to the flood damage at Augustana Lutheran Church.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Augustana Lutheran Church Minot.
