Alexander Evan Hawksley Finch , 38, Minot, died Sunday, December 21, 2025, in a Minot hospital. Alex was born July 21, 1987, in Troy, Michigan.
After graduating from New Milford High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 8, 2005. In August of 2006, Alex was stationed at Minot Air Force Base and assigned to the 5th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. When he was honorably discharged on June 30, 2010, he decided to stay in Minot, ND and attended college for a few years.
Alex met the love of his life, Shin Yang and it was love at first sight. They made their home in Minot where he was employed with the North Dakota Association for the Disabled (NDAD) Charitable Gaming. As a gaming operator he worked at various locations around Minot and made many lifelong friends along the way.
Alex was loving, welcoming and kind; always thinking of others and was stronger than he led on. He brought life and brightness to any space and will be missed by all who shared in his life.
Alex loved all things, sports, especially hockey, golf and football. He enjoyed taking a chance, whether it was his Fantasy Football League, gambling or any form of gaming, he just had to try his hand at it.
Alex is survived by his life partner of 20 years Shin Yang, Minot, mother Rebecca Hawksley, Los Angeles, CA, sister Margi Finch, Bend, OR, and brother Stephen Hawskley, Spokane Valley, WA, along with extended family and many friends.
Alex was preceded in death by his father Bob Finch.
Please help us celebrate and honor Alex's life. There will be a visitation and viewing held at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with Military Honors concluding at 3:45 p.m.
