Albert John Busek , 88, Minot and former longtime McKinley Township area farmer died on Thursday, December 4, 2008 in a Minot healthcare center.
Albert was born on August 3, 1920 in Minot to Frank and Theresa (Podjil) Busek. He was reared and educated in Harrison Township of Ward County near Minot and graduated from Minot Model High School in 1941. As a young adult he assisted on the family farm. He entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army on November 28, 1945. He served in the Pacific Theatre of World War II, until being honorably discharged on February 21, 1947. He returned to the Minot area where he assisted his father with the operation of the family farm.
Albert married Barbara Laskowski on March 3, 1951 in Minot. They made their home on a farm in McKinley Township of Ward County north of Minot for many years. They moved to Minot in 1991. Barbara died on October 3, 2007 Albert had been a resident of the Wellington prior to entering ManorCare Health Services.
Albert was a member of the Eureka Farmers Union, Western Fraternal Bohemian Lodge, Moose Lodge and Eagles Aerie. His hobbies included traveling, farming and socializing with friends at the Truckstop.
Albert's family includes his children: Don Busek of Detroit MI, Gary Busek of Lincoln NE, Bonnie (Don) Del Greco of Sandstone MN and Kent (Corrine) Busek of Fargo; Seven Grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters: Helen (Ernie) Tague and Lucille Moffitt both of Minot; brothers: Joe Busek of Bismarck and Charles (Catherine) Busek of Bremerton, WA; along with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, and wife.
Funeral Service
: Monday, December 8, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Interment
: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
