IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Adeline
Mueller
May 4, 1921 – November 12, 2020
Adeline Mueller, 99, formerly of Minot died on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in a Fargo nursing home.
Adeline Sella was born on May 4, 1921 on a farm near Lunds Valley, North Dakota, between Powers Lake and Stanley, to John and Esther (Siberg) Rian. She was raised on the family farm, attended rural school and graduated from Lunds Valley High School in 1939. She attended Minot State Teacher's College and received her Standard Teaching Certificate in 1942. As a young adult she taught school in Burlington, Powers Lake, Sarles, and Velva until 1951. Then, she returned to Minot State Teacher's College and completed her bachelor's degree in elementary education and English in 1952. She continued her career in education as a high school English teacher at Garrison.
Adeline married Bernhart "Ben" Mueller on September 27, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Lunds Valley. They made their home in Minot where she became a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. She returned to teaching in 1970 and was employed at South Prairie School for six years and St. Leo's School, both in Minot, until her retirement in 1985.
After Ben died on July 4, 2005 she continued to reside in Minot until she moved to Fargo in 2013, to be closer to her daughter and family. There she lived at Riverview Place and became part of that community.
Adeline was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, its women's organization, Naomi Circle, Church Council and taught Sunday School. She was a former member of the ND Education Association and Kapa Delta Pi. She especially enjoyed reading, genealogy, crocheting and needlework.
A secret desire was to become a pop singing star. Unfortunately, she was tone deaf, making a career in singing difficult. She had to settle for being a three time granny winner.
Family was always an important part of her life. Adeline's loving family includes her children: Jolene Richardson of Fargo and Elmer (LynnEtte) Mueller of Jackson MI; three grandchildren: Jonathan Mueller, Melissa Mueller, and Elsa Richardson; a great grandson Bryton Mueller; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Noma Rian, and an infant son.
