Obituary

Adam G. Keller, 81, Foxholm, formerly of Minot, died Sunday, January 13, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

Adam was born July 17, 1926, in Tolstoy, SD, to Louis and Anna (Heintzman) Keller. He was raised and educated in Harvey, ND, until moving with his family to Detroit, MI, where he finished his formal education.

Adam was employed by the Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, MI, until enlisting in the United States Navy June 26, 1944. He served his country faithfully and was honorably discharged June 15, 1946. He returned to Harvey, ND and was employed by a neighboring farmstead near Harvey for a time. He gained employment for a blacksmith shop in South Dakota and also worked construction in the region for a year.

Adam was united in marriage to Lucille Wiest on September 25, 1950, in Harvey, ND. Following their marriage, they moved to Minot, where Adam was employed by the VA Hospital in Minot. They moved to a farm near Foxholm in early 60's, where he was employed by Ward County as a finish blade operator, Boeing Company, and also owned and operated a gas station/repair shop for a time in Foxholm. Adam also, together with his son's, operated a farm, in Foxholm Township, where they raised Angus cattle. He started Keller Construction in 1975. Adam played a big part in designing, building, and maintaining the current Nodak Speedway Race Track in Minot for over twenty years. He received numerous awards for soil conservation work and building over 200 miles of county and township roads throughout North Dakota, and was always clearing the roads in the mornings when blizzards affected the bus routes throughout the school districts in the area. Adam operated his construction business until his retirement in 1988. Adam and Lucille enjoyed spending the winter months in Texas for over twelve years. Lucille died on July 31, 2005.

His joys included playing dance music with the accordion that he taught himself to play after receiving the instrument in 1941, dancing at the Moose Lodge, fishing, bowling and traveling.

Adam was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, holding various offices and he also served as a trustee for several years. He belonged to the Moose Lodge, American Legion, Eagle's Aerie, and the Knights of Columbus, all of Minot. Adam served on the board as well as supervisor of Foxholm Township and was a charter member of the rural fire department in Carpio, ND. Adam was the Civil Defense Coordinator in Foxholm from 1969 until 1988 and was a member of the General Contractors of America. He will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.

Surviving family includes: Children: Marilyn (Tom) Chorley, Tracy, CA, Douglas (Lyn) Keller, Winnemucca, NV, Dwight (Sue) Keller, Foxholm, Greg (Brenda) Keller, Battle Mountain, NV, Kenny Keller, Foxholm, Tim Keller, Minot, Brenda (Zane) Mohler, Lawton, OK, Patty (Tom) Tonjes, Seville, OH, Rodney Keller, Winnemucca, NV and Brian (Christina) Keller, Foxholm; Fifteen Grandchildren; Two Great-Grandchildren; Half Sister: Ida (Mark) Choquette, Minot, ND and brother: Stan (Sue) Keller, Skytock, OK; Half Brothers: Lewis and Raymond Keller, both of Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Adam was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters, Lucille Kroft and Alice Keller.

Funeral: Saturday, January 19, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm, ND

Friday, January 18, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, ND;
Interment:
St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Foxholm, ND;

Friday, January 18, 2007, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
