Janice Bender

Janice Bender, 74, Surrey, died Sunday, July 08, 2018 in a Mohall nursing home. 

Janice was born August 2, 1943 in Harvey, North Dakota to Lars and Gladys (Lageson) Larson. She grew up and received her education in Harvey. 

Janice was once united in marriage to Jerry Bender. They made their home in Surrey and were blessed with three daughters. Janice was employed for many years at the Sweetheart Bakery in Minot where she held many positions. 

In retirement, Janice remained active in the community of Surrey at both Hope Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizens Center. She had beautiful flower gardens and every single day she spent outside was a happy day. She loved to read, do embroidery and paint. She will be missed by those who were blessed to share in her precious life. 

Janice is survived by her daughters, Derinda (Rick Koelzer) Gulbranson, Minot, LeAnn (Kevin) Hanson and Mandy (Mandy Lock) Bender, both of Surrey, ND; grandchildren, Wyatt Kidney, Morgan Bright, Nicole LaVallie, Jimmy LaVallie, Miranda Schwan, Alex Schwan, Alaijah Reiswig, Sara Hanson and Jessica (Reid) Plesuk; great-grandchildren, Reese and Rylan Plesuk and Warren LaVallie; sister, Linda (Tom) Weninger, Drake, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, Jerry Bender, great-granddaughters, Heather Gulbranson and Jersey Plesuk, sisters, Gay Larson and Ilene Weigel, brothers, Mylo and Hillis Larson and son-in-law, Steve Gulbranson. 

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church in Surrey.
Interment: Viking Cemetery, Rural Maddock, ND
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter or the Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue.
