Bruce Helseth

Bruce Helseth, 67, longtime Carpio area farmer, died Thursday, January 11, 2018 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Bruce was born February 13, 1950 to Oscar and Theodora “Junette” (Vaagen) Helseth in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in Carpio, graduating from Carpio High School in 1968.    Bruce attended Minot State College and graduated from NDSU in 1972 with a degree in farm management. He returned to the family farm and began farming in Plain Township, where he raised small grains and Simmental and Red Angus Cattle. Bruce enjoyed working the land and his time spent on the farm.  He retired in 2014.

Bruce enjoyed photography, hunting, attending cattle sales, and watching Western movies. He was a member of the Jaycees, Plain Township Board, Farmers Union Local, and Carpio Lutheran Church.

He moved to Brentmoor Assisted Living in February of 2014, and most recently to Trinity Nursing Home in Minot.

Bruce is survived by his siblings: Darrell Helseth, Carpio; Donna (Jerald) Schimetz, Billings, MT; and sister-in-law: Jane (Gary) Nutz, Minot, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Helseth; sister in law, Mary Helseth and niece, Debra Johnson and her husband, Bruce.

Celebration of Life service: Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, North Dakota.
Burial: Nazareth Cemetery, Rural Carpio
Visitation: Monday, January 15th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials:  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Carpio Lutheran Church or the Carpio Fire Department.
