Carol Linster

Carol Yvonne Linster, 88, Minot and formerly of Stanley, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Minot Health and Rehab.

She was born October 30, 1929 in Flaxton, ND to Victor and Bernice (Strathe) Pommier.  Carol was their eldest child and took her role as sibling protector very seriously.  She graduated from Minot High School in 1947.  After high school graduation, Carol worked at Dakota Transfer as a secretary; later she moved to Minneapolis with the same company.  She had many wonderful memories of her time spent in the big city.  When she moved back to Minot, she worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a clerk.

Carol was united in marriage to Willis \"Bill\" Linster on June 14, 1955 in Minot.  As their family grew year after year, she became a full-time homemaker raising her children with a strong Christian background.  She was an amazing cook and spent many hours each day in the kitchen providing delicious meals and baking for her family.  There were always sweet treats to enjoy.  Her daughters proudly wore dresses sewn by mom with love for Christmas and Easter.  Carol also served as room mother during her children\'s elementary school years.

In 1974, Bill & Carol moved their family to Stanley, ND when they purchased the West Side Lounge.  She worked full-time for Mountrail County Social Services.  While in Stanley, she was a member of the women\'s bowling league and was a member and held offices in the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church Altar Society.

After Bill\'s death in 1994, Carol returned to Minot.  She was very active in her church, holding offices in St. Leo\'s Church Confraternity and St. Joseph\'s Hospital Auxiliary.  She also really enjoyed volunteering at the St. Joseph\'s Hospital gift shop where she met many new friends.

Carol enjoyed traveling to see her eight children and 18 grandchildren.  She was a very intelligent and faithful woman who kept her loved ones amused with her wisdom and quick wit to the very end. Carol stayed busy reading the Minot Daily, working on her computer, and watching the daily news to stay informed of all the latest events and family happenings. She always enjoyed attending local plays and concerts with friends and family.

She is survived by her children:  Mike and Gerry Linster (Fargo ND), Diane and Greg Johnson (Stanley ND), Butch and Sandy Linster (Rapid City SD), Brenda and Randy Jarmin (Stanley ND), Patricia Linster (Minneapolis MN), Caryn and Cordell Wold (Watford City ND), Judy and David Bryant (Brandon, Manitoba) and Bill Linster (Superior WI); brother: Kenny and Izzy Pommier (Solana Beach CA); sister: Lois Anthonisen (Flossmoor IL); special niece: Ashley Ottmann, (Flossmoor IL); grandchildren, Jill (Jason) Sobolik, Tom (Carolyn) Linster, Brad Linster, Paul (Pilar) Johnson, Nicole (Marty) Chorkey, William (Alisa) Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Mitch (Angela) Linster, Kyle (Madison) Linster, Blaine (Kyllie) Linster, Josh Jarmin, Zach (Tess) Jarmin, Miranda (Alex) Quale, Molly (Justin) Solheim, Lindsay (Bryan) Boyko, Adam Bryant, Chelsey (Chance) Horn and Matthew Bryant; and great grandchildren, Lucas, Reed and Donovan Sobolik, Paige, Kenna and Maren Linster, Eduardo and Isabella Johnson, Evelyn and Evander Chorkey, Brandon Linster, Kaiden, Kyson and Kohen Linster, Harlow, Hawkin and Hunter Solheim, Tyson, Liam and Jack Boyko and Lily and Everett Horn; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and lifelong friend, Helen Johnson.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Willis, parents, Victor and Bernice Pommier, step-mother, Irene Pommier, son-in-law, Michael Fehilly and brother-in-law, Martin Anthonisen.

Your mom is very much loved and respected by so many, she will be missed not only by friends and those she visited in all her volunteering, but by each one of you. She touched many hearts and how she is with the one who loved her the most, our Heavenly Father. May he give her soul the peace and love that is promised those those who love him and keep the faith, we know Carol did. God's blessings to each of you. Cindy and Jerry
