Marilyn 'Sis' Luchsinger Butler

Marilyn “Sis” Luchsinger Butler died peacefully in her home in Newberg, Oregon on June 10, 2017 at the age of 81.  She was surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.  She was born July 28, 1935 in Minot, North Dakota.

After graduating from Surrey High School she attended two years at Minot State College. Later she worked as an Office Manager in Minot for Crane and Ordway Plumbing.  She married James Stewart Durbin in 1955. They had two daughters, DeeAnna and Nancy. James and she divorced in 1968.

In 1972 she and her two daughters moved to Salem, Oregon where she worked for the State of Oregon Worker’s Compensation Department for 10 years processing worker’s compensation claims.  She retired in 1981 in order to assist her husband, George Milton “Milt” Butler, in his business ventures.  They purchased a 42 acre farm where they lived for 30 years.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and shopping with her daughters.  She created beautiful blankets, sweaters and dolls with her crocheting skills, and sewed much of her own clothing.  She enjoyed gardening and yard work keeping her large farmhouse yard beautiful year-round.  She also enjoyed playing piano and listening to piano and classic country music.  Most of all she loved her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family with all her heart and soul.

She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Ruth Luchsinger, her husband, Milt Butler, her eldest brother Paul Luchsinger (Bev, deceased) and her youngest brother Donald Luchsinger (Lois).  She is survived by her daughters DeeAnna Lambert and Nancy Gisler, her son-in-law Gary Gisler, her grandchildren Mitch Lambert (Jennifer), Keith Lambert, Patrick Lambert and Marilyn Lambert (Tom Wood), great-grandchildren Hailey Lambert, Rilyn Wood and Karley Wood.  Her surviving siblings are Curtis Luchsinger (Jill), Burton Luchsinger, Milton Luchsinger (Dee), Ken Luchsinger and Leone Brusven (Dale, deceased).

Her family and friends take comfort in knowing Marilyn has joined her loved ones in heaven.   If wishing to make donations, please contribute to the Salvation Army.

Graveside Service: Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Surrey.
