Paulina Christian

Paulina “Polly” Christian, 92, Formerly of Minot ND.  Went home to be with her Lord while a resident at Masonic Homes in Bloomington, MN, on Friday, April 14, 2017.

Paulina was born on May 10, 1924 in Sawyer, ND, the daughter of Paul and Lousea (Schuler) Schlecht. She was raised and educated in Sawyer, ND in Newman Township. Following her education, she assisted on the family farmstead. The family moved to Minot in 1944.

Polly was employed at Langseth’s Cafe before marrying Clayton Christian on June 29, 1948 in rural Sawyer, ND. They made their home in Minot, ND, where she was employed as a waitress and hostess in the dining room at the Elk’s Club for 9 years. She later became employed at JCPenneys as a sales clerk and other various positions for 20 years. She retired in 1986.

Polly was a member of Our Redeemer’s Church, Minot, where she served on the wedding committee and taught vacation bible school.

Polly enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, gardening and cooking. She was an avid bowler and loved spending time with her family.

Polly’s loving family includes her daughters: Shirley (Larry) Bruckner, Minnetonka, MN and Paulette (Jim) McCann, St. Cloud, MN; 5 grandchildren: Mike (Amanda) Bruckner: Matt (Megan) Bruckner: Jesse (Carrie) McCann: Shanna  McCann and Jimena McCann: 8 great grandchildren.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Jake and Matt and sisters: Annie Mittleider, Mary Lang, and Alvina Gleason.

A Private Celebration of Life will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor’s choice.
