Jean Doris Olson, 86, Fargo, formerly of Minot, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 in a Fargo assisted living center.
Doris was born December 4, 1925 at Northwood, North Dakota the daughter of Benhard and Carrie (Bakken) Larson. She was raised and educated at Berthold and graduated from Berthold High School in 1944. Doris attended Minot Business College for two years and was employed at the Ward County Courthouse in the County Extension Office.
Doris was united in marriage to Oscar Olson on December 6, 1948 at Berthold. They made their home at Berthold until 1963, when they moved to Minot. Along with raising their two children, she was employed at Nash Finch, Farmer’s Union Insurance agency and later at Minot State University as a secretary for Dr. Warren Allen from 1971 until 1985. She retired in 1985. Oscar died September 18, 2007. Doris lived at Sommerset Court in 2008 and then moved to the Edgewood Vista at Fargo in 2009.
Doris was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was an active volunteer and cook for the soup kitchen. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, golfing and camping.
She and Oscar volunteered at the Høstfest and were active participants in the Good Sam Club locally.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Karen (John) Lamb, Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba, son, Greg (Julie) Olson, Pelican Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Micah (Alex) Lamb and their children, Etienne & Émile, Matthew (Laura) Lamb and their children, Madeleine, Sophia & Kylie; Amy Lamb and her fiancé, Kevin McConnell, Jocelyn (Ed) Triplett, Kendra (Chris Brynes) Olson; sister, Ila Robinson, Fargo, ND.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and husband of 59 years, Oscar.
Funeral service: Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold.
Visitation: Friday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
