Charles Wilson Walker
Charles Wilson Walker, 68, died July 12, 2012, at Trinity Hospital, with his family at his side.
He was born September 21, 1943 in Fremont, MI to James and Pearl (Smith) Walker. He was raised in Fremont, Michigan and graduated from Fremont High School in 1962 after which he enlisted in the Air Force in 1963.
He had a long military career from 1963-1984 and earned many citations and medals. He was stationed in Sheppard A.F.B. in Wichita Falls, TX where he met Linda Renee Brubaker, his future wife of 47 years. They were married on July 24, 1965.
He served in Vietnam for one year starting in 1966, during which time his daughter Christina Renee was born. He served a year in both Plattsburg, NY and Okinawa, Japan before being stationed at Brookes A.F.B. in San Antonio, Texas where his son James Lee was born in 1971.
He served 18 months in Puerto Rico before being stationed at Minot A.F.B. in North Dakota in 1973. He served 11 years at M.A.F.B. in the Civil Engineering Squadron, retiring in 1984 as Master Sergeant.
He spent almost 40 years in North Dakota. He and his wife, Linda, moved to their country home and farm outside of Glenburn, ND in 1978. He and his family enjoyed many wonderful years there.
He continued working part-time even after “retirement”. Everyone who knew him knew of his hard work ethic and love of a good story.
His hobbies included helping others, hunting, traveling with his wife and family in the RV to ND, MI and TX, making projects and more of helping others.
Charles “Chuck” Walker is survived by his wife, Linda Renee Walker; daughter, Chris; son, James and wife Cami; grandchildren, Kim, Jessica, Josh, Nicole, Abby and Banyan; great grandchildren, Bryan and Jasmyn; brothers, Frank (Sonny), Bob, David, Norm, Jerry, Mark, Steve, Richard, Dennis; sisters, Helen Cipolla and Carol Jarvis; Additionally, he’s been blessed with a large, loving extended family and friends that are like family. Chuck will be greatly missed by so very many.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, James Walker and Pearl Walker and his brother, James Walker.
A service will be held on July 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Jewel Cemetery, Fremont, Michigan.
