Susan Thomas lived in Minto, ND before her family moved to a farm near Thief River Falls, Minnesota. She graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.
While at UND, Sue met Bryan Thomas and they were married in 1982. They lived in Fessenden, ND shortly after graduating from college. At the time, Sue was a social worker for Wells County.
After moving to Minot, Sue was employed as a Program Assistant at the Minot Vocational Adjustment Workshop. She also was previously employed at Catholic Charities of Minot where she worked with adoptions and counseling unwed parents.
Because family is of utmost importance to her, Sue stayed home raising their four children for the next 16 years. Their oldest daughter is married and lives in Fargo. Another daughter attends the University of Mary. Two sons attend Our Redeemer's Christian School.
Sue and Bryan are active members and involved in Our Redeemer's Church. They enjoy following their children's sporting events. She is also involved in Moms In Touch for Our Redeemer Christian School. Previously, she has served on the Youth For Christ Board of Directors, MOPS Steering Committee and the National Day Of Prayer. They expanded their family circle by opening their home to a Rotary foreign exchange student, Catalina, from Argentina in August of 2006.
Sue officially became the Thomas Family Funeral Home Aftercare Coordinator in January of 2005. Her interest in personally helping the bereaved began years before while dealing with the emotional heartache of losing her older brother to cancer when he was 16 (she was 14 years old at the time of his death.)
Realizing that the funeral or memorial service is really only the beginning of the healing process, is what motivates her to sit down one-on-one with the families that we serve and see what kind of further support and caring we could provide during this difficult time.
