Gladys KohlmanGladys Sophia Kohlman, 95, 305 8th Ave N.E. Minot, and formerly of Makoti and Anamoose, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006, in a Minot Nursing Home. 

Gladys was born October 19, 1911, at Rugby, North Dakota, the daughter of Henry W. and Melvina (Wagenius) Smestad.  She was raised and educated in Makoti, and received her standard teaching certificate at Minot State Teachers College.  She taught at Bell and Harrison Township Schools, as well as at rural schools near Anamoose and Martin, North Dakota. 

Gladys was united in marriage to Paul F. Kohlman on December 1, 1934, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.  They made their home on a farm north of Anamoose where they farmed until moving to Minot in 1958.  Paul died on November 13, 1991.  Gladys moved into the Trinity Nursing Home in 2000. 

Gladys was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed life and family, especially spending time with her grandchildren.  Gladys enjoyed her teaching career stayed in touch with her students throughout the years. 

Her loving family includes:  Children: Dennis (Margie) Kohlman, Phoenix, AZ; Dalton (Lillian) Kohlman, Minot and Kathy Bradley, Lake Side, MT; Seven Grandchildren; Sixteen Great Grandchildren; Eight Great-Great Grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul, three sisters: Janet, Lillian, and Delores, and two grandchildren: Danny and Diana Kohlman. 

Funeral service: Saturday, November 18, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Nursing Home Chapel, Minot;
Interment
: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
Visitation:
Friday, November 17, 2006, (today) from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
